ABOUT THE TRIP

At this point, the plan is to take 6 to 7 months to:

• Cross the Atlantic from Maine to the Azores
• Cross from the Azores to Portugal
• Cruise the coasts of Spain and Portugal during the summer and early fall
• Sail to the Canaries in the fall
• Cross the Atlantic again and bring Chase to the Caribbean for the winter

It’s possible that plans might change – i.e. we could leave the boat in the Med. for the winter - but we’ll play that as it comes. Regardless, 6 to 7 months are a pretty short time to accomplish that kind of transoceanic cruising. In fact, the original plan – which was to be executed last year – called for at least one year off. However, reality (and work) intervened, making this the best compromise.

Chase will have permanent crew of Peter Stoops (that’s me) and Tom Nangle. We’ll be plugging in other crewmembers for ocean crossings, and as visitors.
